A few things to know first:
* This is entirely fictional, with plenty of creative liberties. I have no work experience in any of the fields involved.
* Two capable, career-driven, stubborn romantics with hopelessly lovestruck hearts. 1v1 older woman-younger man romance. One heroine is a remarkably dense block of wood at first.
* Modern crime-investigation story, finding sweetness amid the angst. Revenge, ensemble cast, happy ending.
* If anything makes you uncomfortable, please stop reading. No need to let me know if you drop the story.
"Unrequited love is a deafening yet silent solo performance. The audience is packed, but the person you want to perform for isn't among them, or they can't understand the show."
A gentle-seeming criminal investigation PhD with a terrible vengeance weighing on her × a sharp-tongued, efficient, and deeply devoted financial crimes unit chief
Sang Yuwan never thought she would see Luo Dongyu again.
Even less did she expect her former classmate, the person she had secretly loved throughout her youth, to become her subordinate and colleague.
When a police badge number was reactivated, she saw a side of the always-gentle officer that was anything but gentle.
Her heart ached for her, and amid all the misunderstandings, she couldn't stop herself from falling for her.
But the slow-witted officer began keeping her distance. Only after Sang Yuwan had been left heartbroken and walked away did the officer finally confess her feelings. At last, the ice melted away and the stars shone bright across the Milky Way.
But happiness was only the calm before the storm. Rumors that Luo Dongyu had betrayed the police grew more and more widespread. Sang Yuwan refused to believe them at first, until she saw it with her own eyes.
"Can you face the souls who sacrificed themselves?"
Misunderstandings led to arguments, and the lovers went their separate ways. Only after death and grievous injury came at the price of the truth being revealed did the answer emerge. The lovers, reunited after losing and finding each other again, watched the "Water Knife" case come to a close beneath a sky ablaze with sunset.
