By the banks of the River of Forgetfulness, some souls cling so fiercely to their unresolved obsessions that they refuse to be reincarnated. They throw tantrums before the Bridge of Helplessness, crying, making a scene, and threatening to hang themselves. They would rather “die” than drink Granny Meng’s Soup, seriously disrupting the queue.
In response to this kind of behavior--
Old Yan said, “This is downright disgraceful to the city’s image!”
Granny Meng said, “Souls ahead who don’t want soup, please don’t hold up the souls behind you who are eager to be reincarnated!”
The chaos only began to ease after a woman and her rabbit moved to the lower reaches of the River of Forgetfulness.
The rabbit said, “Hello! How about giving ‘She Shui’ a try? The boss is beautiful and kind-hearted, and she’s definitely the best person to help you fulfill a wish from your life!”
Luo Ling said, “I only want beautiful women.”
So Old Yan waved a hand and let the rabbit choose souls with deep-seated obsessions. Luo Ling would be responsible for fulfilling their wishes, and once the goal was achieved, the souls would be taken care of properly.
From then on, the queue before the Bridge of Helplessness ran smoothly, the She Shui shop was packed with customers, and everyone had a bright future ahead.
Many, many days passed like this. Then one day, the rabbit brought a petite, adorable girl to She Shui.
Luo Ling asked as usual, “Hello. What is your wish?”
The girl looked serious. “Miss Luo Ling, I want to kill someone.”
Luo Ling: “Huh?”
Reader's Guide:
1. This is the first installment in a short-story series. The main characters vary from installment to installment, but the series' protagonist is always the heroine, Luo Ling.
2. Each wish is a story of its own. The protagonists in each installment are not perfect and will have their flaws.
3. The worldbuilding and some of the plot in this series were conceived many years ago when I was a student. Some parts may seem a little immature, so please bear with me.
4. The heroine's story will only be revealed after I've finished writing all the installments. The wait may be extremely long.
5. As for the male lead of the series, he will only appear in the heroine's storyline. At first, there will only be the male and female leads of each installment, and sometimes there won't even be a male lead.
6. This installment has no male lead. It's simply a story about the female lead of this installment getting revenge, so it's categorized as no-couple.
