A thousand years ago, the ancestors of the Yu family had an incredible stroke of luck, and their clan grew prosperous. But later, for reasons no one knew, a bizarre curse began to spread through the family: the men would suddenly lose their minds and slaughter everyone in sight before stopping.
Eventually, one branch of the Yu family left in search of a cure. In Ba City, they found the miracle medicine of their dreams: a gigantic octopus monster lurking in the darkness, with a terrifying pair of golden eyes!
The Yu family called it the "Shen Taisui." They willingly offered their own people as sacrifices in exchange for the continuation of their bloodline. Those chosen as sacrifices had to endure the monster gnawing at them day after day, in a place untouched by sunlight, until they became half-human and half-Shen, neither fully human nor monster.
Yu Yi is the current generation's human-Shen of the Yu family.
He hates that the prosperity of the Yu family and even Ba City is built on his flesh and blood, and on tears. He despises the monster that has tormented and tortured him without mercy, and swears to wipe it out, along with every other Shen Taisui dwelling elsewhere!
He delves into bizarre, otherworldly islands, sneaks into eerie, terrifying castles by night, and endures the sandstorms of the desert... Yet in the end, he discovers to his horror that the monster he has hated for twenty whole years is himself.
And everything he's done is meant to destroy the entire world!
There are two couples:
A dark, twisted little octopus spirit bottom (Yu Yi) x a snake monster top who seems cold but is pure of heart (Yu Li)
A spirited beauty with short hair as the bottom (Rao Zexiu) x an immortal, baby-faced top who's often asking for trouble (Chi Xuanjun)
