Xi Mu is the heir to a wealthy family who lives by his schedule. He had no childhood and knew no happiness. When he learns that he is the fake young master of a powerful family, he decides to set things right and put everything back on track.
An elongated Lincoln pulls into a small town it clearly doesn't belong in. The town is full of everyday bustle. Dragging two huge suitcases behind him, Xi Mu knocks on the Xia family's door.
When someone answers, he stands there expressionless, holding up a paternity test that shocks everyone. Before anyone can react, Xi Mu has already arranged where he belongs. First, he strides into Xia Zigui's room, rattles off a series of instructions, and presents a lengthy list of changes, giving them three days to make improvements before he comes back to inspect them.
Xia Zigui is utterly bewildered. He turns to see that his parents are just as slow on the uptake as he is, then asks the question on everyone's mind: "Wait, who are you?"
In a daze, Xia Zigui gets into a luxury car. His mind has shut down, his legs feel unsteady, and he's completely out of it the whole way.
Such a huge gate, such a huge garden, such a huge swimming pool, such a huge chandelier...
So huge...
So rich...
"Zigui, Zigui..."
The wealthy lady, who looks like she must be very expensive, calls him with a smile. Her expression is stiff, as if she can barely keep it up.
Judging by Xia Zigui's current behavior, he's a long way from being a proper heir to a wealthy family. He's a hopeless case who can't be shaped into anything (as Xi Mu sees it). Xia Zigui grew up without any ambition and isn't outstanding in any way (as Xi Mu sees it). At the request of Xi Mu's parents, Xi Mu is to teach the real young master the qualities an heir needs, then put everything back on track.
Xia Zigui's parents spoil him far too much, and that will get in the way of Xi Mu's plan (as Xi Mu sees it).
With the melancholy mindset that every meal might be his last, Xia Zigui clears his plate of vegetables he normally won't touch. His mother smiles and ruffles his hair.
Xi Mu thinks this is absolutely nothing to praise!
Xi Mu finishes the greens in his own bowl and leans toward Xia's mother. She stares at him, stunned. Xi Mu lets out a loud huff through his nose, pulls his head back in a huff, then starts picking out all the dishes Xia Zigui likes.
The Xia family runs a small restaurant, and Xia Zigui helps out every day after school. Xi Mu is a quick learner and masters the job in just a week. He says he wants to help out too.
But Xia's parents flat-out refuse!
They're playing favorites. They clearly don't see him as their own son!
Xi Mu sits on a stool and glares at everyone in displeasure. Even the dog scavenging for leftovers gets a scowl.
Xia Zigui gets one glare after another.
Things don't go as smoothly as Xi Mu imagined. After a long, busy evening, he eventually dozes off over the table.
Xia Zigui fans him, carries him home, then leans down dreamily and kisses his forehead.
Before he understands love, when Xia Zigui's underwear falls from the top bunk, the fastidious Xi Mu pinches it between two fingers and tosses it in the trash.
Later, he'll lean in and take a sniff, his face looking utterly innocent as he curls his lips into a gentle smile and says, "This is what you smell like."
Xia Zigui always ends up blushing bright red because of him.
Xi Mu, the little robot; Xi Mu, who clings to the rules; Xi Mu, who was never happy, finally finds happiness at eighteen.
