[Easygoing palace maid × aloof, untouchable tyrant]
Murong Su, the late emperor's youngest son, was only six when he ascended the throne under the imperial edict. After nearly ten years as a puppet emperor, enduring fratricide and a falling-out between mother and son, he finally took full control of the court.
Murong Su is deeply suspicious. Anyone who approaches him is treated as a spy and executed on the spot. He has no one close to him.
The first time he heard a System voice, Murong Su found it rather novel. A System with no physical form couldn't possibly hurt him.
System: This emperor is handsome and distinguished. It's so hot, but his collar is buttoned all the way up. Is he some kind of old fossil?
Murong Su touched his youthful face and instinctively loosened his collar.
System: The whole bedchamber is pale and gloomy. Even his nightclothes are so white they're creepy, like he's dressed for a funeral. The palace is boring, and the young emperor is even more boring.
Murong Su paused while tying his sash and calmly summoned a eunuch to bring him a bright red night robe.
System: Is this emperor really 25? He speaks and acts like a stickler for rules, and walks as stiff as a board. He's got no grace at all. I'd believe he was 52.
Murong Su's rigid back bent, and he nearly tumbled down the steps.
One day, Murong Su heard the little palace maid on night watch muttering to herself, and she only got more animated as she went. When he drew closer, he realized that her muttering sounded exactly like the System voice he'd been hearing. At last, things were getting interesting.
System: He's never called a consort to his bed. Could he have some kind of problem? What if he can't perform?
Playing tricks on the emperor with fake magic? She must be tired of living!
Murong Su glared furiously and yanked the culprit, who had been standing outside the hall, toward him. It was the little palace maid who had repeatedly sleepwalked into his bed.
"Tonight, you'll find out for yourself whether I can perform."

Jiang Wu transmigrated into the body of a little palace maid. She had no golden finger and no mission. All she had to do was watch out for the tyrannical emperor, who killed and beheaded people on a whim, and live comfortably until she died.
So whenever Jiang Wu was on duty, she stood as far away as possible, kept her head bowed, and secretly complained about the tyrant.
One day, Jiang Wu was so busy complaining to herself that she didn't notice the tyrant's sinister gaze. He yanked her into his arms, and only then did she realize something was wrong:
The tyrant could hear her thoughts!
