[A rule-abiding, arrogant and brooding alien husband × an emotionally alexithymic, reserved and shy Earth scientist]
Lemond, a Level One observer for “Eternal Echo” on Planet Starr.
Exiled to Earth for fifty years for breaking the rules, his only chance to reduce his sentence is to submit a perfect observation journal.
He possesses the body of an Earthling named Yu Ran and decides to make his wife, Lin Naimo, his subject of observation. Designation: M057.
[M057 showed no tears at her father’s funeral, no sign of grief, and no fluctuations in energy. Possibly a member of my species.]
[Attempting to establish frequency resonance.]
[M057 did not respond.]
[Confirmed M057 is an Earthling. No visible emotional reaction, but data indicates suppressed energy fluctuations. Further observation required.]
[Observation value: SSS+]
A never-before-seen observation subject. Lemond was certain this would make a perfect journal.
[To facilitate completion of the observation record, the subject “M057” will henceforth be referred to as “Naimo.”]
[Kissing completed successfully. Naimo experiences the emotion “pleasure” while kissing. Note: Naimo does not breathe.]
[Naimo defended me, sternly warning off a rival, and took my hand of her own accord.]
[Naimo’s eating habits remain poor. She needs to be coaxed into eating more. Note: This must be corrected.]
[Naimo denied that she intended to abandon me and apologized. I have decided to forgive her.]
[**First attempt failed. Earthlings have no detailed ** procedure, so I consulted unregulated videos. I used too much force, causing Naimo pain and making her cry.]
[I want to eat Naimo.]
[While ** with Naimo, she said my name twenty-nine times.]
[Naimo said she loves me. To be precise, she loves Yu Ran.]
[I want Naimo to say she loves Lemond.]
[Naimo lied to me and met another Earth man.]
[Why, Naimo? You made me malfunction, and now you intend to abandon me? You mustn’t.]
Lin Naimo is a senior engineer who researches bionic robots. She has alexithymia and struggles to recognize, describe, and express her own emotions and those of others. A car accident caused her to forget her husband.
According to other people, her husband is quiet but gentle and refined, considerate and caring, and very much in love with her.
But Lin Naimo thinks he’s a little strange. For instance, he always ignores her condition and unreasonably tells her, “Naimo, you have to love me.” His voice is halting and completely flat.
He’s intensely possessive. Anyone who comes into contact with her, regardless of age or gender, is automatically seen as a rival.
He also seems to have skin hunger. He’s always trying to hold her hand, kiss her, and touch her skin, and even wants to eat her.
Strangest of all, she used her husband as a model to create a companion bionic robot, but the evaluation said it was “not humanlike.”
Feeling that something was off, she checked her observation records:
[10.21: I twisted my ankle going down the stairs, and the pain made my eyes water. He licked away my tears one by one and said, “Naimo, why is there so much water inside you? Why does the water taste different depending on where it comes out? The water from your eyes is salty, the water from your mouth is sweet, and the water from your...” I covered his mouth.]
Lin Naimo fell silent.
She wasn’t normal, and her husband... might not be human either.
