A Sword Cultivator Would Never Beg for Mercy

Yun Lian is an ordinary sword cultivator.

To preserve peace among the three realms, she accepts a request from the Immortal Alliance of the human realm and heads to the demon realm to marry into the Dragon Clan.

On the day she sets foot in Dragon Clan territory, she experiences a betrayal unlike anything she'd ever known.

Under the pretense of escorting the wedding procession, the human realm has sent a hundred powerful cultivators at the Great Ascension stage to hide among it. They openly tear up the peace treaty among the three realms and attempt to assassinate the Dragon Emperor.

This is the greatest insult Yun Lian has endured since beginning her cultivation.

So, with only her sword at her side, she kills every assassin sent by the human realm. After the battle, she disappears, clinging to her last breath.

When she wakes, the three realms have changed beyond recognition. Tens of thousands of years have passed.

The peace treaty is gone, and the marriage alliance between humans and dragons is now little more than an empty formality. The past is like passing clouds, best left unmentioned.

Yun Lian's cultivation has regressed drastically, and she can only start training all over again.

Before long, she finds a strange-looking little beast.

From that day on, whenever Yun Lian meditates at night, a beautiful woman often appears in her dreams. She wakes exhausted, and her sword swings are much slower.

As time goes by, the woman's face in her dreams grows clearer. Her expressions begin to resemble those of the little pet she keeps more and more.

One day, as she wakes from a dream, Yun Lian finally understands.

Her engagement was broken, and she never got over that emotional trial. Though she never even laid eyes on the person she was meant to marry, the experience may have wounded her spirit.

This must be her inner demon.

"Trying to block a flood only makes it worse. Suppressing desire only adds to the chaos. Better to let things take their natural course." Yun Lian comes up with a solution. "It's time to find myself a Daoist companion."

Just then, the little beast in her arms suddenly transforms into the beauty from her dreams, tosses her a mountain of treasure worth more than a kingdom, then tackles her to the ground.

Yun Lian: "?!"

W-wait!

Chen Xiyue is the youngest daughter of the Dragon Emperor. She was originally supposed to represent the Dragon Clan in a marriage alliance with the humans.

That day, the humans, skilled at hiding their intentions and disguising themselves, revealed their fangs.

She thought the battle would last a long time, but it was over in the blink of an eye. A scheme started by a group of humans ended at the hands of another human.

That human's body was wrapped in magnificent attire. With one swing of her sword, she slew all a hundred assassins, leaving them reduced to ash.

After the battle, the woman vanished without a trace. The Empress Mother told Chen Xiyue that she was her betrothed.

But now, the human realm has torn up the peace treaty, the marriage alliance is void, and that human was gravely wounded in a battle against her own kind. She is destined not to live long.

Chen Xiyue refuses to believe it, so she sneaks out of the Dragon Palace.

She hides her identity and slips into the human realm. Crossing mountains and rivers, she gathers treasure for her betrothal gifts while searching for her fiancee.

One careless mistake exposes her identity. Burdened with a treasure she cannot protect, Chen Xiyue is hunted down, on the verge of being destroyed body and soul.

At that moment, a woman arrives on a flying sword.

Chen Xiyue remembers her sword, her face, and most of all, the graceful way her robes fluttered as she swung her blade.

A flash of swordlight sweeps past, and the enemies retreat.

The woman scoops Chen Xiyue into her arms and strokes the little beast's weak head. "Oh dear, what a poor little thing."

Yun Lian thinks this is their first meeting.

She has no idea that Chen Xiyue has been looking for her for thirty thousand years.
