"Tide Erosion"
Introduction to the work
In the first month of the Bingwu Year of the Horse in the lunar calendar, on the last undeveloped and desolate reef beach along the Dongpu coast of Shishi, Quanzhou, stood the Lin family's "broken stone house" that had been forgotten for half a century. It is said that whenever the tide drops and the moon disappears and the stars sink, the faint sorrow and joy of a married woman will be heard in the stone house, intertwined with the sound of the waves, making it sound like weeping and complaining.
Qiu Shangguang, a young folk documentary director, came to Dongpu alone to explore the customs of "crying at weddings" and "sea sacrifices" that are about to disappear along the coast of southern Fujian. He accidentally discovered that all the clues strangely pointed to the legendary haunted house, as well as a horrifying past that was entangled with the local "Huang" family. During the investigation, he met Huang Meixuan, a young female scholar who had returned from overseas, had a cool temperament and knew local secrets well. The two were forced to join hands for their own purposes and stepped into the abyss of the stone house sealed by time and malice.
Under the stone house, there is not a masonry foundation, but a "victory-weary" array built with special methods. Every piece of reef with holes eroded by the sea water was once the tombstone of a "bride". The mystery of the disappearance spanning decades, the twisted ancient marriage customs, the terrifying cycle of reincarnation with the tide... Gradually surfaced. Qiu Shangguang and Huang Meixuan discovered that they were not accidental intruders, but the latest and most critical pieces in this vicious chess game that had lasted for more than half a century. Huang Meixuan's family bloodline and the ancestral jade button in Qiu Shangguang's hand, engraved with the strange "sea marriage pattern", firmly tied them to this deadlock that must be solved before the next Bingwu year.
The way to survive is hidden in the murmurs between every ebb and flow, and in the wedding songs that the "brides" failed to finish singing. And in the darkness, what erodes faster than the tide is the erosion of the human heart. They must race against time, and in the narrow gap between madness and truth, find a way to put all the innocent souls to rest and escape the fate of "becoming the next bride".
