Wenli returned to his hometown on the coast of southern Fujian to deal with a dilapidated stone house left by his grandmother. The house was built near the tide line. When the tide came in, seawater poured into the patio. When the tide receded, oyster shells and dead fish were left behind.
She dug out a moisture-proof iron box from the secret compartment behind the shrine. Inside was a mental hospital medical record from 1987.
Patient: Chen Wenjin, female.
Diagnosis: Paranoid schizophrenia.
Chief Complaint: Repeatedly claiming that "there is a city under the sea, there is a door in the city, and someone is calling my name behind the door."
Also included in the medical record is a photo of grandma and Chen Wenjin when she was young, as well as half of a nautical chart of Wujiao Island.
Wen Li checked the address on the medical record, but the hospital said there was no such doctor. There was no such person in the archives, and the ward had long been converted into a morgue.
Before she died, my grandmother repeatedly chanted in Hokkien: "Open the sea gate, no living person can come in."
She thought it was just an old man who was confused, until one night at low tide, three long and two short knocking sounds came from under the stone house.
She lifted the stone slab under the stove, revealing a dark alley sealed by oyster shells. On the cliff was carved:
Chen Wenjin, 1987, went to sea.
It turned out that Chen Wenjin was the leader of the underwater archaeological team on the Maritime Silk Road, and discovered a Song and Yuan submarine ship mound on Wujiao Island. On the eve of the report, a group of people without a serial number forcibly sent her to a mental hospital.
That medical record was a hush-hush order - they couldn't let the world know that there was a "sea gate" buried under the intertidal zone in southern Fujian.
And Wenli is the "key" left by Chen Wenjin.
During the 16th tide of the lunar calendar, the stone gate on the seabed opens; the medication record on the back of the medical record is actually a tidal code written in the Pinyin of the southern Fujian dialect.
Grandma's stone house is the first bar of Haimen.
On the last page of the medical record, written in dark red handwriting:
"Wen Li, don't open the last door. Your grandma is not crazy, and neither am I."
