Synopsis:
Jiang Xun transmigrates into an ancient political intrigue novel as an NPC. According to the setting, he’s a sickly, lazy nobody who barely matters to the plot.
Originally, he spent his time sightseeing in Gusu, painting fans and brewing tea, while acting as the family’s little lucky charm. His life was carefree and happy. But then his grandfather was suddenly promoted from a local official to a central government post, and the whole family moved to the capital.
Jiang Xun thought he was merely getting closer to the original story’s political whirlpool. As long as he didn’t become an official and just lazed around, he’d be fine.
Who knew his grandfather would suddenly submit an application and send him to study at the Imperial College in the capital?
Jiang Xun: ...
At this point, the original story’s main plot was still years away. The important characters were all still underage, and most of them were studying at the Imperial College.
There, Jiang Xun could meet:
The future minister of the Court of Judicial Review, who would have absolute power and rig the Golden House fraud case;
The future minister of justice, who would be so brazen as to poison the heir to the throne with the help of his official authority;
The future minister of revenue, who would embezzle a huge sum of regional disaster-relief funds for personal gain and still get away with it;
What was this place, if not a breeding ground for corrupt officials?!
Jiang Xun’s legs went weak at the entrance to the Imperial College. He wanted to run away.
Forget everything else. First, stay away from that bunch of lunatics!
But when he turned around, he ran straight into the chest of Ying Shixue, the newly arrived assistant director of the Imperial College.
Wait, who was this?
Ying Shixue??!
*
Ying Shixue was the male lead of the original story, an undisputed overachiever. Born to a poor family, he earned his rank through sheer ability and relentless hard work, eventually rising to the post of Censor-in-Chief.
One moment he’d be on friendly terms with you, and the next he’d send assassins to kill you in the middle of the night, leaving no survivors.
The Ying Shixue of today was still a low-ranking assistant director at the Imperial College, with little influence. His teaching style was strict, and his exams were practically hellish.
He absolutely could not get involved with him. He was the protagonist!
Jiang Xun hurriedly apologized while holding his bleeding nose, then scrambled past Ying Shixue and ran off.

Later, Jiang Xun was dragged back to the Imperial College by his grandfather. If he refused to go, he’d be punished under the family rules.
On his first day of school, Jiang Xun got drowsy from his medicine and slept through several classes.
It wasn’t until the final class that the assistant director teaching in the lecture hall came down and stopped in front of him. His pageboy pinched him, and Jiang Xun jolted awake.
It was Ying Shixue.
Ying Shixue’s eyes held no emotion. He held a book of scriptures and said, “Young master, what a pleasant time you’re having. You’ve got all the cakes and sweets covered, and you can even take a little trip to meet Duke Zhou during class.”
Ying Shixue’s voice turned colder. “Come to the assistant director’s office at the Hai hour tonight. I’ll tutor you alone.”
Jiang Xun: “...”
I really don’t want to study. Somebody help me.
Sickly, lazy bottom x overachieving, scheming top
The bottom is quite young when he first transmigrates, around six years old. There’s a little bit of child-rearing. He’s only fifteen when he enters the Imperial College.
He’s got a whole-family-favorite buff. The main plot revolves around what the protagonist encounters in the book, and the family bonds take up a large portion. There is a couple, and they’re already decided.
