Introduction
During the Republic of China, isolated villages followed the horrific old custom of ghost marriage. Qiu Yingying has been living in the care of others since she was a child. She has a strange birth date and is designated by the village goddess as a "yin body". She is destined to be betrothed to someone who died young in order to calm the grievances of her ancestors and bring good fortune to her hometown.
On the seventeenth day of the first lunar month, Lin Zifu, the eldest grandson of the Lin family, a wealthy family in the village, returned from studying abroad. He was elegant and handsome in suits and leather shoes, but he scorned the bad habits in the village. On the day he returned home, he ran into Qiu Yingying, who had fled to the mountains in a hurry because she resisted the ghost marriage. They met for the first time on a rainy night at the temple.
