The perspective is drawn from the inland mountain villages to the Dongpu coast of Shishi, Fujian. The protagonist Qiu Kanqing (which is homophonic to "look at the light", implying that he got into trouble for despising taboos) was originally a "traitor" in Xiangzhi Town (implying that he was engaged in some kind of business involving overseas used items, such as reselling salvaged porcelain or antiques). Due to the failure of his business and creditors closing in on him, he was forced to hide back in his hometown, the ancestral dilapidated stone house on the seaside of Dongpu Village, with all his bad luck.
This house was built on a rock, with sea salt seeping from the cracks in the walls, and the smell of rotting seaweed permeates the house all year round. Qiu Kanqing originally wanted to escape the world here, but he didn't know that he was stepping into a curse that had been eroded by the sea breeze for hundreds of years. He accidentally discovered a "Paper Wedding Dress" wrapped in oilcloth on the beam, and a "Genealogy" recording the legend of "Sink in Tokyo, Float in Fujian". Immediately afterwards, strange things happened one after another: in the middle of the night, a resentful fishing song from southern Fujian was heard from the seaside; after the tide receded, a female corpse wearing an old wedding dress appeared on the rocks; even more frighteningly, strange stories about the "old corpse in the mountain village" began to spread in the village. It is said that during high tides, the female corpse would come ashore with the sea fog and knock on the door from door to door...
Qiu Kanqing gradually realized that all this was related to the "shipwrecked wealth" that his ancestors had participated in. That paper wedding dress was a relic of the bride that was robbed by pirates that year. Now, the ghost of the enemy comes to the door following the bloodline, and wants to complete a ghost marriage that is a hundred years late in this "Sunken Tokyo".
