Jia Shuangyu was born in 1986 in Qitaihe, Heilongjiang Province. At the age of six, a coach spotted her, and she began training on the ice.
In 2002, she made the national junior team.
The national team has always been a gathering place for prodigies. At sixteen, she was a prodigy herself, but to some people, being a prodigy was merely the price of admission.
On the national team, she met a dazzling, radiant star who, like her, came from Qitaihe. From then on, she spent her life following and trying to surpass her idol.
In 2006, after overcoming one obstacle after another, Jia Shuangyu finally earned a place on the team traveling to the Turin Winter Olympics, though only as its fifth alternate.
On the ice, she watched a red flag held high and yearned to be like that. She resolved to become someone like her.
In the pitch-black night, the full moon hanging overhead is the most dazzling of all. But on a moonless night, even the stars can light up the sky. If she couldn’t become the moon, then she would become the brightest star circling her.
Note: 1. A tribute.
2. A short track speed skater’s coming-of-age story. The female lead will not be the strongest. Since I’m not sure if I can write about real Chinese athletes, I’ll decide when I start whether the legendary athlete is real.
3. The pairing is Gattuso: a short track speed skater and a soccer player, a passionate knight and a kind angelic teddy bear.
4. Short track speed skating takes up a large part of the story.
5. To be added.
