Mao Jiu had been a good-for-nothing in the demon realm. She had no desire for immortality. Cats already lived a long time, and she was fond of staying alive. She figured she could live well for the time she had left.
She had planned to live out her life freely, carefree and untroubled. Then disaster struck: the place where she lived was taken over, and she had to flee from place to place like a headless fly. Before long, she arrived somewhere new. Step by step, she walked forward and saw a statue. She knew what it represented, so she decided to stay there.
Sometimes food would appear in front of her. Sometimes there would be a new trinket...
Until one day, the statue spoke...
