Her childhood friend, who had always taken her affection for granted, finally realized what he’d lost and began to regret it.

After the victory banquet, he got blackout drunk and told her to break up with Lu Chenshu.

Chen Xichun didn’t take the drunk man’s words to heart. She got him settled and left.

When she opened the door, she ran right into Lu Chenshu.

The man leaned against the doorframe, one long leg bent. He only raised his eyes when he heard the door open, his gaze sweeping over her rumpled collar.

“What were you talking about?”

His tone was no different from usual, but Chen Xichun felt inexplicably guilty.

After a two-second hesitation, she decided not to tell the truth. “Nothing.”

Lu Chenshu gave a quiet “Hm.”

He seemed to believe her, but for some reason he came inside. Even though he knew there was a third person in the room, he lowered his head and kissed her.

Chen Xichun was so dizzy from the kiss that she made a sound in her fluster.

The next second, Lu Chenshu covered her mouth with his hand and glanced behind her, his expression calm.

“Keep your voice down.”

“Do you want him to see me kissing you?”

Lu Chenshu was reserved and self-controlled, rarely doing anything out of line.

After meeting Chen Xichun, the few exceptions in his life all had to do with her.

For instance, when he agreed to his parents’ demand in high school that he stop looking after her, he took the promise very seriously. He even came back in the middle of the night.

For instance, even though he knew she liked someone else, he thought it was right to keep a safe distance, then secretly loved her for over a decade from that distance.

And later, when he finally got his chance, he threw away years of good conduct, took advantage of her vulnerability, and sweet-talked and tricked her into leaving her childhood friend for him.

Don’t rush to find answers, and don’t lose patience just because you don’t have them yet. Go out and experience life. Live it. Maybe many years from now, without even noticing it, you’ll slowly find your way into the answer.

It doesn’t matter if it takes many years.
