The founding emperor and empress. Deep love, quietly endured / resilient and clear-eyed. Two little bitter gourds who understand each other and build an empire together.
Synopsis
After Empress Shengjun passes away, all the officials are overcome with grief, while the court historian is left with a headache.
The empress who helped Emperor Shiguang conquer the realm had a life full of hardship. She was born a noblewoman of the imperial clan, later fell into the status of a convict slave, and even became a favored consort of the former emperor.
Yet her bond with Xie Jin, Emperor Shiguang, was just as real. When Xie Jin once headed north to the capital, she alone held the twelve prefectures of Guanxi, keeping the three hundred thousand troops of the Xiao clan at bay. After Xie Jin broke into the city of Xijing, he did not even take his place on the throne in Taiji Palace before leading an army of five hundred thousand on a thousand-mile forced march to rescue her.
To this day, the emperor has never opened the imperial harem, and the empress shares his bed in Taiji Palace.
The court historian racks his brains trying to prevent Empress Shengjun from becoming the subject of gossip in generations to come.
Eventually, they receive an edict: Emperor Shiguang himself will determine Empress Shengjun's biography and posthumous title.
Later, they receive the biography and posthumous title personally written by the emperor, as well as news of his death.
