"Ontology of Life" is a systematic life philosophy work based on epistemology and directed by ontology. It is also a highly sophisticated structural model of the operation of the mind. The author Zhou Guofu uses engineering thinking to answer a fundamental question: how does human consciousness operate and how to maintain the integrity of life.
The whole book starts from the dual structure of two worlds and two times. The physical world is objective, uniform, and independent of people; the brain-body world is subjective, plastic, and relies on consciousness to generate events. The two run in parallel and do not replace each other. The ascending line and the descending line form a closed loop to unify the binary opposition between idealism and materialism. Time in the brain and body does not follow the clock on the wall, but can be condensed, extended, returned, and suspended. This is a structured restoration of subjective time experience and the first axiom of the book.
On this basis, the book constructs the hierarchical model of the experience pool and the operating procedures of the three-knife flow. The experience pool is divided into three layers: the bottom layer of the sedimentation pool is automatically connected, the activity pool stores experiences illuminated by consciousness, and the spontaneous pool outputs fixed patterns. The three-sword flow - consciousness, cutting, and birth - is the only operation of consciousness outside the pool. The sequence is fixed and each sword can be stopped. This model locks unconscious drives, conscious decisions, and the operation of free will into a structure that can be described and deduced.
The most unique ideological crystallization of this book lies in the progressive law of five causal chains and the structural boundaries of science and language. The five chains progress from the ontology chain to the logical chain, which is the structural necessity of behavior filtered out by four fundamental elements. Science can only completely cover one-fifth of what can be logicized, while the remaining four chains can only be experienced and cannot be reduced. Language can only name experiences that have been manipulated by "consciousness" - this marks the limit of human understanding of itself.
The appendix uses dialogues between thirty-two Eastern and Western philosophers to put the system under extreme questioning. The cracks are honesty. It is not a personal growth manual, but a doorframe, not a door panel. When the physical body, memory, and consciousness are present, this structure is established. The content changes and the structure is discernible. It expresses the core position of "relationship precedes entity".
