Today's Radio Report: Localized Snowfall

Fake step-siblings | Living-together setup | County town | Brother and sister in a rented apartment | Slow burn

At seventeen, Chen Yi's mother remarried, and Chen Yi became the one nobody wanted.

Her biological father kicked her out, and her mother turned a blind eye to her.

With nowhere else to go, Chen Yi showed up at the home of the older brother she had lived with for three years, carrying a beat-up suitcase and a backpack washed pale with age.

In the dimly lit hallway,

Chen Jiu opened the door and saw a familiar face he hadn't seen in a year. He asked coldly, "How did you find this place?"

Chen Yi lowered her head, twisting the strap of her backpack in her fingers. Her voice was barely audible. "They don't want me..."

"I can't afford to take care of you."

Tears welled in Chen Yi's eyes. She bit her lip, her voice faintly trembling with tears. "...You're all I have, big brother."

Chen Jiu was buried in debt, and now he had to take care of a girl who had just started her final year of high school. He worked several extra jobs every day.

After school, Chen Yi stood outside the auto repair shop and heard them call, "Chen Jiu."

Chen Jiu looked up and saw her standing outside. He got up and took off his oil-stained gloves. "Go home. I'll be back later."

Chen Yi picked up a plastic bag and, as she came closer, softly called to him, "Li Chixin."

Li Chixin froze.

No one had called him that in a long time.

Chen Yi smiled, her eyes curving. "Big brother, I'll wait for you at home."

"Everyone knows you as Chen Jiu. Only I remember that your name was once Li Chixin."
