[A bookshop owner with psychogenic hearing loss and mutism x a musician who "can't help getting involved"]
After his younger brother dies, Wen Chu builds himself a soundless cage. For ten years.
He doesn't listen. He doesn't speak. He doesn't go out. He stays in an old bookshop with a diary written for his younger brother, planning to live out his life this way.
Ji Yu moves in without warning. He leaves notes on Wen Chu's flowerpots, gives him a sound atlas, repairs his phonograph, and sits by the counter with him on rainy nights. He doesn't ask, "Why don't you speak?" He does just one thing: he helps Wen Chu feel that the world is worth listening to.
Eventually, Wen Chu speaks. His first words are Ji Yu's name.
Later, he hears the wind, the rain, Ji Yu playing the piano, and Ji Yu's heartbeat.
The last sound is Ji Yu whispering in his ear: "A Chu, can you hear it? Every sound in this world is for you."
Wen Chu says, "I can hear it. All of it."
Premise: Love helps someone hear the world again
