After Mistaking the Sickly Powerful Minister for My Father

Yan Huan grew up in a village and was suddenly told at eighteen by the System that he was the biological son of a powerful official in the capital.

As the real young master, he is supposed to return to the capital and be despised by his parents and older brothers, tormented by the fake young master, and abandoned by his fiance. Then he must despair and jump off a building, faking his death, so everyone can wake up, regret everything, and be consumed by grief.

Yan Huan is speechless. "Why go looking for trouble? Even a dog wouldn’t do it..."

The System: Ten thousand taels of gold.

Yan Huan springs into action. "I’ll do it. If a dog won’t, I will."

After he arrives in the capital, the System tells him his father is at a restaurant. He walks in and sees a man sitting by the window, his face so beautiful he seems otherworldly. Every so often, he coughs.

Yan Huan’s heart skips a beat. He rushes over, hugs the man’s leg, and shouts, "Dad!"

Damn it, this frail beauty is his father? What a waste of such a beautiful face.

Pei Du lowers his head and frowns. "Have you mistaken me for someone else?"

Yan Huan: "Dad, you’re my real father!"

Pei Du takes him home and treats him to all the best food and comforts.

Yan Huan eagerly sharpens his knives for the inner courtyard, but there is no real young master or fiance in the family. His real mother is not even there. There is no heart-wrenching drama at all.

Instead, he discovers that his father is set on dying, and Yan Huan won’t have it. He brings him tea and water, fusses over him, sleeps beside him, and tells him bedtime stories, doing everything he can to help him sleep, all because he’s afraid Pei Du might suddenly lose heart and kick the bucket.

Pei Du’s gaze grows more and more strange. Yan Huan assumes it must be pride.

Before Yan Huan has had his fill of this life, one day a minister who looks about five parts like him rushes into the Prime Minister’s residence, bangs on the table, and shouts, "Pei Du! Give me back my son!"

Yan Huan looks at the minister, then at the beautiful, pale man beside him, and falls silent.

He seems to have mistaken the wrong person for his father!

What if he doesn’t want to leave?!

Pei Du raises an eyebrow and leisurely straightens Yan Huan’s collar. "Huanhuan, call me something sweet, and I’ll send him away."

"...Dad?"

Pei Du: "..."

He goes and calls me the one thing I don’t like.

*Yan Huan didn’t mistake the wrong person for his father in his previous life. His family is reborn and regrets everything.

*He is doted on by everyone in this life.

*Apologies for changing the premise.
