Two thirteen-year-old boys, one stolen car, and one morning from which one of them never came back.
John and Riddell were neighbors and each other's only friends. Riddell rarely spoke. His father was away most of the time, and fallen leaves were forever piling up on the steps outside his home. John was cheerful and popular with everyone. The two were drawn to each other.
Their friendship stretched out like a set of railroad tracks, and like those tracks, it split at a certain crossing.
Until one morning, Riddell knocked on the window and said, "Let's go on an adventure."
When John climbed out the window, he had no idea what had happened in Riddell's house. He didn't know where the journey would end, either.
This is a story about growing up, saying goodbye, forgetting, and the truths adults never speak aloud.
This is an alternate-timeline story spun off from the main work, written for my OCs. If you don't like it, don't read it. I don't recommend reading this, either.
