In a damp, chilly alley in a county town, another ordinary yet vicious fight breaks out.
Tao Zhiyin watches coldly as the crowd streams away. A gust of wind, thick with the smell of rust, hits her nose.
She walks over to the person and crouches down, opening a cotton swab and dipping it in iodine.
The person stops her. His voice is scornful. "What? Did you put laxatives in the iodine?"
Tao Zhiyin knocks his hand away and presses hard on the bleeding wound.
"Let's make a deal."
"What deal?"
"I'll treat your wound, and you protect me."
"You're crazy."
Chen Mi.
Arrogant, extreme, brimming with menace, and always doing as he pleases.
Every violent word seems to fit him perfectly. At Ninth High, everyone avoids him, afraid of getting dragged into his orbit.
Yet someone like him has managed to evade this school's rule of picking on the weak.
And Tao Zhiyin desperately needs to get close to him to escape her current predicament.
The first time, he said she was crazy.
The fourth time, he asked her name.
The ninth time, he said, "I'm in so much pain I could die. Are you coming or not?"
Tao Zhiyin succeeded, but she felt no joy at all.
That night, there was blood everywhere. They dragged and pulled at each other until flesh tore apart.
One person was terrified, while another laughed with delight.
Chen Mi went too far, putting everyone who had tried to force her to compromise behind him, out of her reach.
He ruthlessly pushed her forward, but stayed where he was, unwilling to take even a single step.
"Tao Zhiyin, don't cry. Move your legs and get home first. From now on, stay as far away as you can."
