My name is Xu Wen, disciple of Daoist Qing Yang.
My master is skilled with the sword and fond of calligraphy and painting. He lives in the mountains and keeps to himself.
Our secluded home was peaceful and serene, but a young man cannot bear loneliness. I was always dreaming of the world of martial arts in the stories I read, full of flashing blades and the freedom to avenge wrongs.
My master did not stop me. He simply pointed to my senior fellow disciple, who was dozing nearby with his eyes closed, and said the martial world was dangerous, so I needed to be able to protect myself. If I could last one stick of incense against my senior, he would let me go down the mountain and gain experience.
My senior was gifted beyond measure and his martial arts were extraordinary. He beat me black and blue, and I couldn't even last half a stick of incense.
My master burst out laughing, but soon he could no longer find it funny.
My senior wholeheartedly agreed with my point of view.
Gallop through the martial world while you're young.
After that day, my senior set off alone, free and unfettered, and entered the martial world.
Oh, I forgot to mention.
My senior is a cat.
Lu Bai is a cat.
A cat who knows martial arts.
As a good cat who upholds justice, Lu Bai made plenty of friends.
But rare things are precious. In all of history, there had never been a cat quite like it. The martial world was dangerous, and people’s hearts were hard to fathom, so its friends were always worried about it.
After much thought, they decided to teach it their own unique techniques.
One more skill means one more chance to survive. Blades and swords show no mercy, so knowing more never hurts.
By the time Lu Bai had made the rounds of the martial world, it had mastered the techniques of countless schools and made them its own.
The martial arts tournament held once every ten years began. Lu Bai watched from a rooftop and realized that the people below did not seem as good at fighting as it was.
If it remembered correctly, the prize for first place was a whole big bag of gold leaf.
The cat raised its tail with interest.
And so, that year at the martial arts tournament, a cat beat everyone.
