A Guide to Remarrying in the Seventies

Jiang Yaqi and engineer Zhou Mingkun have been married for six years and have a four-year-old child. They are a "loving, happy" couple, the most envied pair at the machinery plant.

That is, until Zhou Mingkun got involved with the widow Sun Xiaowei, and the two divorced.

Once the pampered darling of the residential compound, Jiang Yaqi fell from grace and became the target of ridicule. Her father, a senior officer, passed away; her mother was weak-willed and did nothing but cry; her brother was a spoiled wastrel; and her younger sister was so love-struck she threw herself at men...

Jiang Yaqi set her sights on a perfect second-marriage candidate: Doctor Lu from the military hospital, whose former wife had died. She asked her childhood friend Xue Jiajia to introduce them.

Qin Dingjun was nearly thirty-five and still unmarried. With his grandfather gravely ill, his family had issued an ultimatum: once his leave was over, he had to get married.

The organization tried to set him up with Cui Mingfang, a singer in the art troupe. She was attracted to his family background and job, but disliked his cool, quiet personality and thought he wasn't romantic enough.

Xue Jiajia asked Jiang Yaqi, an expert in all things "romantic," to help her pursue him.

Jiang Yaqi was amused. Who was Qin Dingjun? Since childhood, he'd been the "other people's child" in their residential compound, with a great family and a great job. And now he couldn't even find himself a wife.

Jiang Yaqi: "Qin Dingjun, you're so taciturn. Marrying you would bore me to death."

Qin Dingjun: "Then marry me."

Jiang Yaqi: "If you dare to marry me, I dare to marry you!"

"Let's go get the papers."

"???"

He actually means it?!

In less than a month, the two had their marriage certificates, leaving everyone around them wide-eyed.

"Jiang Yaqi got an even better match in her second marriage? How is that possible!"

"She's divorced with a kid, and Qin Dingjun must have been drugged. Just wait, they'll split up within six months!"

Three years later, they had two more children, and the couple remained loving and happy for the rest of their lives.
