The Spoiled Female Side Character in a Period Novel Refuses to Awaken

Beautiful, spoiled troublemaker x secretly passionate, self-righteous type. Blurb: Qin Xiangxiang is a pretty airhead with no brains. One night, she has an incredibly long dream and realizes that she is actually the female foil in a novel. She comes from a once-prosperous petit-bourgeois family in Shanghai. The family factory is taken over by the state, and they all become workers. In the 1960s, her parents find her an officer to marry. After the wedding, her husband is stationed on an island, but she firmly refuses to join him. In 1971, a change in her family’s circumstances forces her to go with him. There, she becomes neighbors with the novel’s heroine, who has also moved to the island, and the two families become stark foils for each other. She makes a scene at every turn, unable to adapt to island life. She looks down on this person and that, and boasts about her former life in the city. She also competes with the heroine in everything. The heroine has twins, a boy and a girl, so Qin Xiangxiang keeps trying for a daughter, only to give birth to three little hellions instead! The heroine takes the college entrance exam, so she takes it too. The heroine goes into business, so she does too. Not only does she lose every last penny, she’s swindled out of her entire fortune. Unable to face reality, she gets hit by a car and dies. The details of her dream were so vivid, and everything has unfolded just as it did in the dream. She really is a character in a book! Changing her personality is out of the question. This troublemaker is determined to make a scene right to the end, starting with getting a divorce as soon as possible! She sends a telegram asking for a divorce, and her husband comes back early. Qin Xiangxiang hits him, berates him, and torments him, making a scene and acting crazy. But the guy not only refuses to divorce her, he ends up moving to the island a whole year early. “Bastard! I want a divorce!” On the island, Qin Xiangxiang gives up and lies flat, eating her fill and waiting to die without lifting a finger. Her husband, meanwhile, keeps their home spotless and raises their chubby four-year-old son into a hardworking, ambitious boy. Huh? Huh? What? At home, he cheerfully does all the chores, bringing her tea, doing the laundry, and cooking. At work, he gets promoted at rocket speed. He even helps her study for the college entrance exam and teaches her how to buy houses and land and run a business. This guy is nothing like the husband from her previous life! The frigid husband from her dream would never spend every night turning her this way and that. This guy even gets her pregnant three times, and she has three daughters! * Li Jianzhi wakes up from a mission at sea to discover that he has become Li Jianzhi, a naval officer in the 1970s, and that he has a beautiful wife and a four-year-old son. He’s read plenty of novels in his spare time. Now it’s his turn to be the male lead! His estranged wife wants a divorce? No way! His son is growing up to be an obnoxious little chubby tyrant? No way! “Li Jianzhi, my hands are tired and I don’t want to pick up my chopsticks. Feed me!” “Li Jianzhi, I don’t want to move. Carry me.” At 188 centimeters tall and handsome to boot, Li Jianzhi has often lost contact while at sea, and several relationships have fizzled out because he doesn’t understand romance or know how to keep a conversation going. Now he finds himself with a sweet, clingy, delicate wife who’s soft as a cloud. Everything about his wife is adorable! Note: The original novel was written by the girlfriend of one of the male lead’s subordinates. She based the character on him, so his height, appearance, and name are all the same. The original author mistakenly thought the male lead was frigid and paired him with her own beautiful frenemy. In reality, he’s incredibly passionate beneath that reserved exterior. Theme: Stay true to yourself and face life with equanimity.
