As Novia's non-blood-related sister in ASL, she isn't as kind and gentle as they imagined. The "maternal instinct" she displays stems from an insect's mutation: she demands unquestioning obedience from those she raises, and won't let them interfere with her doing good or committing violence.
"Listen, I don't care if Grandpa just stands by when I'm about to be executed. He would have let one of us die anyway."
Hearing her say this only made the Straw Hat boy sadder. He took her hand, hoping to cheer her up like he used to.
"Novia, don't say things you don't mean. I know you're sad."
So Novia rolled her eyes and roughly pinched the Rubber Man's cheek.
[Reading Guide]
● Almost entirely in first person. No male lead, no picking a ship, everyone is fair game.
● The protagonist is a chaotic neutral troublemaker. She won't hurt the innocent, but kills without batting an eye, and has nonhuman traits.
● An alternate-universe spin-off based on the Pirate King arc in chapters 100-121 of Goodnight in the Dreamlands.
The reposted chapters and setting are shared before the new chapters begin. The transition from the other story has been omitted, but traces remain, as a little Easter egg.
