Cold-faced, secretly flirtatious career-focused gong x warm and direct, easygoing shou
Qu Yi is an ordinary university student. He keeps an unhealthy sleep schedule, lazes around, and has long since resigned himself to coasting through life. Then justice falls from the sky: lightning strikes him and sends him to the cultivation world.
So Qu Yi gets two identities: human by day and sword by night.
What's the difference? He only has to stay human for half the day, and he doesn't even have to go to class. He takes it in stride, dubs himself "Sword Guy," and resumes planning his life of lying flat.
As it happens, there's another "Sword Guy": Qu Yi's local, aloof sword cultivator namesake, Qu Yi, who swaps between human and sword form with him every twelve hours on the dot.
"Hey, we have the same name. I'll call you big bro, so make sure you protect me," Qu Yi says familiarly, his sword body held rigid.
Looking at the sword that had suddenly started talking, Qu Yi thinks for a moment. Swords are expensive, and he has no money, so he picks it up without expression and tucks it into his arms.
--
New to this foreign world and unfamiliar with everything, Qu Yi can only cling to his newly found support. "I know a sword is like a wife to you sword cultivators. Don't worry. Once I find a way, I'll return your wife to you."
From inside the sword, Qu Yi replies coolly, "It's a deal."
Necessity forces the penniless college student to face people, and he transforms into a wretched little sword cultivator. In his precious few hours as a human, Qu Yi gossips, polishes the sword, and practices with tree branches. Oh, and he doesn't do the last one for more than an hour a day.
One morning, the usually taciturn Qu Yi says, "Hey. Use a real sword when you practice."
"Can I?"
Qu Yi excitedly grabs the sword and promptly eats dirt.
--
Just as his days as a sword person are about to end, Qu Yi packs his little bundle and hums a tune. He looks up and sees a man in black leaning against a tree, his face even darker than his clothes.
Qu Yi is about to say a proper goodbye and thank him for taking care of him for half of his life, but Qu Yi says, "Can't you stay?"
"...Huh?"
The little bundle he'd just packed spills all over the ground.
#What a coincidence, bro. You're a sword person too
#Your wife is a sword, so do I have to be one too?
#When I said I wanted to lie flat, I didn't mean like this!
