Zhu Shiyu, who works hauling bricks at construction sites, has felt listless and drained these past few days. Every night, he dreams of his destined wife, but he can never make out her face.
His friends tell Zhu Shiyu not to get lost in a doomed romance from his dreams. Spending several long nights in bed with the same person, whose appearance and gender are both a mystery, sounds downright sinister. They advise him to go drink some charm water when he gets the chance.
After stepping on a nail at the construction site and nearly getting skewered by a falling rebar, Zhu Shiyu finally believes in the supernatural and decides to find a Taoist priest to drive out the evil after tonight.
That night, Zhu Shiyu closes his eyes. When he opens them again, the stars have shifted, and he has become a porter from a hundred years ago.
*A semi-literate gong, hardened by life's repeated beatings until he's become bouncy and resilient, x a lazy shou who'd die of pain if the world kissed him with pain
*Gong-centric. Zhu Shiyu is the gong.
