Every time Velosis watches Bruce walk away, his heart aches. The possessiveness in his eyes is becoming harder and harder to hide. He longs to carry his precious treasure back to his nest and hide him where no one could find him. But whenever he imagines Bruce's hate-filled eyes, it's as if a bucket of cold water has been thrown over him, making him shiver. So when Bruce looks back, all Velosis can do is smile and watch him go.
Bruce and Velosis got married. When their contract was finalized, Bruce didn't show it, but he was overjoyed inside. Even though Velosis had only signed the contract with him because he had no choice if he wanted to save him, Bruce still couldn't hold back the excitement surging in his heart when the contract took effect.
Their relationship was already bound together, yet Bruce still felt uneasy. Velosis didn't love him. The contract had been forced on him, the marriage had been Bruce's idea, and even the pleasure they shared was simply because dragons needed the relief a mate could provide.
At Wayne Manor, they were more like friends than lovers. Bruce knew he ought to be content with that, but he still couldn't stop himself from wanting more.
He had thought their relationship would go no further, until that incident finally broke the stalemate.
