There Are So Many Mentally Ill People in This World

All right, I admit it. I was mentally ill in my previous life, and I am in this one too.

But I’m doing much better this time. I still hear and see things that aren’t there, but I can control my behavior, emotions, and thoughts, and I socialize normally.

No one can tell I’m mentally ill anymore.

My office-slave life in my previous existence gave me schizophrenia. This time, I chose to work with cats and dogs and become a veterinarian.

Unfortunately, the best veterinary program in all of Japan is at the University of Tokyo, so I had to painfully leave the place where I was born in this life: Hokkaido.

Living in Tokyo is tough! The pressure is intense, and there are plenty of mentally ill people, too.

I see people cosplaying as giant pandas from China in the middle of summer, a boy with spiral tattoos on his lips and tongue, a ponytailed girl in glasses, an office worker wearing a polka-dot tie, and so on!

Good grief, these people were waving their arms around wildly at thin air in broad daylight, even hacking at it with knives. I immediately called the police.

What’s wrong with them? Can’t they be as sensible as I am and get treatment if they’re sick?

Having an episode and wandering around in public? You deserve to get arrested!

I also came across a frail boy being bullied. Just as I was about to step in, he told me to hurry away, saying his girlfriend would get mad if I went near him.

What a nutcase! I hope they stay together forever!

All that aside, none of it really interfered with my life. But being stalked by a mentally ill person is a whole different matter.

You, the Crab-Leg Cult Leader in that cassock! Don’t come any closer! I really don’t have the money to join your cult and become part of your family.

What? You don’t want money? You’re paying me?

Great. We’re family now.
