Silly, selfish, pretty, pampered brat vs. strong, loyal, old-fashioned daddy
Straightforward version:
Ning Lechu was born in a chaotic slum and picked up a host of bad habits and odd quirks as a child. He should have ended up living the same dirty, poor life as the drifters in the slums. But on his very first day at a construction site, before he even touched a brick, he met Li Boyu, the most capable and best-looking man there. From then on, he lived a life where clothes were brought to him and meals were served to him.
Everyone says Ning Lechu is lucky, and envies him for having such a hardworking, good husband.
As time passed, Ning Lechu’s bad temper came out in full force. He was difficult and restless all day long, going out of his way to torment Li Boyu until even their neighbors couldn’t stand it.
Then Ning Lechu awakened to the fact that he was a cannon-fodder character and learned that Li Boyu was the protagonist of a revenge story about punishing scumbags.
To stop making Li Boyu angry and hastening his own death, Ning Lechu reined in his awful temper and started acting like a “good wife,” while quietly looking for a way to leave Li Boyu.
Li Boyu noticed the change in Ning Lechu, but began to grow suspicious all day long, convinced Ning Lechu had taken a lover. He started keeping an even closer eye on him.
At last, Ning Lechu found his chance. He left a note and ran away.
The note read: I don’t love you anymore. Let’s go our separate ways!
But Ning Lechu was barely literate, and wrote “Let’s split after one bang” instead.
So he hadn’t gotten far before Li Boyu came after him in a rage.
“You want to split after one bang?”
Ning Lechu: “?”
Li Boyu knew that if his perfectly awful wife became good, his perfectly good romance would be in trouble!
Ning Lechu was once again certain that Li Boyu really didn’t love him. It was as if he had become a different person, no longer giving in to Ning Lechu.
He couldn’t eat snacks whenever he wanted or play games late into the night, and Li Boyu even forbade him from wearing his pretty, sheer clothes.
Li Boyu had never before forced him to do things he didn’t like.
His true colors were finally showing!
Ning Lechu ran away again.
But life outside was nothing like he had imagined.
Ning Lechu had overestimated himself. Without Li Boyu, he couldn’t survive out there no matter how much money he had.
He was stupid and awful, and no one would indulge him the way Li Boyu did.
His money was soon swindled away. Ning Lechu wandered the streets, filthy and disheveled, like a pitiful kitten abandoned by its owner. His once-bright, clean fur was dirty and coarse, and people would chase him off and bully him from time to time.
Then a luxury car stopped in front of him. A man in a suit, dignified and elegant, looked down at the pitiful kitten.
Ning Lechu thought that rather than starve to death on the street, he might as well die in Li Boyu’s mansion. Like a moth to a flame, he threw himself into the man’s arms.
Gong’s unhinged version:
My wife scolds me. That means he loves me!
My wife hits me. That means he loves me!
Otherwise, why does he only scold me? Only hit me?
But one day, my wife stopped scolding me and stopped hitting me.
Does that mean he doesn’t love me anymore?
Why has my perfectly awful wife suddenly become good?!
Why has my perfectly good romance suddenly gone bad?!
Who did this? Who taught him? My wife doesn’t know any better. Who led him astray?!
P.S.:
1. The shou is genuinely silly and adorable, and thinks he’s “wicked.”
2. Strong gong, weak shou. Neither lead is perfect.
3. Not suitable for readers with extreme gong- or shou-favoring preferences.
