The master smokes opium, the madam plays mahjong, the married older brother returns from studying abroad with a female confidante, and the younger brother tastes the rouge at a maid's lips and says it's so sweet.
Shu Yufen: "The rain isn't even that heavy. It's the wind that's blowing so fiercely!"
She pulled herself together. While these years were a little less chaotic than before, she'd first set her family in order, then build a business.
Author's note:
This is my first Republican-era story. I've tried hard to research the period, though there may still be gaps, so please go easy on me.
It's somewhat of an ensemble story and slow to develop. There may be one-sided crushes, but the heroine won't fall for anyone.
Please add my new story to your favorites: Me and the Heroine, A Sea of Hate and Love
After five years of working herself to the bone, Le Yao went from an innocent, naive young girl to a bitter hater, beaten down by society.
One day, on her way home from work, she got trapped in an elevator and died. Then she was bound to a revenge system for tragic-romance supporting female characters.
From then on, Le Yao, who had always hidden behind the facade of a diligent, honest person, finally had an outlet for her outbursts. She slapped the heroine as soon as they met, and gave the hero two slaps!
After beating the hero until he looked like a pig's head, she brought him to the heroine. She wanted to see whether the heroine could still bring herself to kiss him!
Le Yao: Maybe you don't know this, but I'm a wicked woman at heart.
[Dream of the Red Chamber] I Am Lin Daiyu's Aunt
Lin Su transmigrated into another world. Born into a family of scholars and officials, she married a successful candidate in the imperial examinations and had two sons and a daughter. At the age of twenty, she was widowed.
Fortunately, heaven had shown her some kindness. Her husband's ancestors had been merchants, so the family was well-off.
With no parents-in-law above her, her husband's brothers having divided the family estate, and three children to raise on her own, living as a wealthy woman of leisure while managing a vast fortune seemed like a pretty good life.
Who would have thought that one day a letter would arrive from Yangzhou? Her older brother, whom she had never met and who had risen to the post of salt commissioner, had died young. His niece Lin Daiyu and her cousin Jia Lian were bringing his remains back to the family's ancestral home in Gusu.
Lin Su: What?
Lin Daiyu? Jia Lian?
How did the Dream of the Red Chamber end again?
Theme: Believe in the future.
