After graduating, Sawada Tsunayoshi chose to stay home and do nothing. By a twist of fate, he became a Werewolf livestreamer. Since he was always completely wrong when reasoning things out but always voted correctly, viewers began suspecting him of cheating off-camera.
Just as he was fretting over how to prove his innocence, a major Werewolf variety show called The Werewolf Game invited him to join.
Everyone knows that what makes face-to-face games more challenging than online ones is reading people. Guest No. 9, Tsunayoshi, looked around at the guests with their many different expressions. Amid the skeptical comments flooding the chat, he slowly put on his helmet.
"I'm the Seer. I checked No. 4, and they're clear. I checked them because they seemed like they had a role before night fell, and I wanted to check someone I thought might be good. Then I took a look around, and No. 3 and No. 12 seem like wolves. No. 8... No. 8, why are you smiling so happily? Did you meet them last night? Hmm, you don't seem very good either. Let's hear if anyone claims Seer against me."
From the start, he named three wolves. No. 4, the real Seer, Gokudera Hayato, looked expressionless, but was actually struggling to keep the corners of his mouth from turning up. He hesitantly said, "For now, I think we should go with No. 9. We can reconsider after hearing the later speeches," while climbing aboard the ride his own clear had started, with Tsunayoshi driving as a fake Seer.
In the end, No. 12, Rokudo Mukuro, found himself in the wolf pack and chose to blow up on the first day, accidentally swallowing the Witch's poison. No. 7, Reborn, a pillar of the Werewolf world, claimed Guardian as a Villager, while No. 8, Yamamoto Takeshi, stayed completely calm and fooled the Villagers who were wavering over which side to support, especially those without enough information to read the table. The good team still lost the match, but Tsunayoshi became famous overnight and went on to become a regular guest on The Werewolf Game.
As Tsunayoshi made many new friends through the game, gradually began to enjoy playing Werewolf, and became an online celebrity thanks to his remarkable accuracy in choosing a side, voting, and pulling people back from the brink, along with his entertaining interactions with the other guests, something unexpected happened.
After another long night in a match, the moderator announced, "Daybreak. Open your eyes." Tsunayoshi took off his helmet as usual, only to find himself in a strange space.
"Dear Player No. 9, welcome to the much-anticipated Werewolf Game. You're about to begin an adventure full of fun and excitement. Please choose a card in front of you to start the game!"
A few notes for readers:
* Tsunayoshi is twenty-four, just graduated from university, and did not inherit the Vongola.
* Skills, mechanics, factions, and strategic battles. It's not really about Werewolf, so you can follow along even without knowing the game. Any special terms or mechanics will be explained.
* It takes a little thought to read, though I'm not smart enough to write anything too advanced, and the author's perspective is different from the reader's. But really, it's just a product of my imagination wearing a different outfit. Feel free to turn your brain off and enjoy the story.
* The regular guests are characters from Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (the lineup may change, and characters will take turns appearing). There will be many guest characters from other series, but the roster hasn't been decided yet.
Currently planned series: Dr. Stone, Hunter x Hunter, Sherlock Holmes (original novels), Persona (4 or 5), The Town of Light, Sally Face, and Nisio Isin's Zaregoto series.
If there's something you'd like to see, let me know and I'll consider it. Even better if you can recommend something I haven't seen yet, haha.
* Focused on All27. I haven't decided how far I'll take it yet. For now, I'll prioritize the progress of the Katekyo Hitman Reborn! characters' relationships, and characters from other series may be paired up (Hyouga has been suggested so far), but at most it'll be ambiguous. Most relationships will be platonic.
* I don't like writing side couples (canon pairings won't be broken, but they're just part of the background). I don't ship any pairings in the series that will be crossing over, though I'll respect the original character relationships and write them as they are. Please don't ship side couples in the comments, okay? Great.
* One very important tip: It's just a game!
