There are nearly a thousand species of eucalyptus in the world, but this koala only loves you!
[Jiang Zhijian, Alpha vs. Jiang Qili, Omega]
[Jealousy-prone and poker-faced, with a head full of wicked ideas vs. a lazy, adorably clueless goofball who’ll starve without eucalyptus leaves and turn stupid after eating them]
[The blue gum tree koalas love most vs. a slow-moving koala through and through]
Young Mr. Jiang, Jiang Zhijian, was having a run of bad luck. He fell for his wicked stepmother’s scheme, and his biased father “temporarily” kicked him out of the family business and sent him to “lie low” in a beautiful village with fresh air.
Standing in the muddy fields of a poor, remote county where nothing ever happened, Jiang Zhijian let out a cold laugh.
The fallen young master Jiang hadn’t even adjusted to his change in circumstances or gotten his mindset straight when a scrawny little beggar latched onto him.
The little beggar clung to Jiang Zhijian and wouldn’t let go. “Hun... hungry. Food... food.”
Jiang Zhijian: ?
Jiang Zhijian donated money, tried both kind words and harsh ones, but the young beggar kept sticking to him. Running out of patience, Jiang Zhijian released a wisp of Alpha pheromones to scare the little beggar into leaving.
But along with his pheromones, leaves from his true form spilled out. When the young beggar saw the eucalyptus leaves, his starving eyes lit up like high-powered bulbs.
Jiang Zhijian watched helplessly as the little beggar excitedly but slowly picked up his poisonous leaves and put them in his mouth. Then he watched the little beggar slowly climb onto his back, using both hands and feet. A bad feeling crept over him.
Jiang Zhijian shook the dizzying little beggar on his back and gritted his teeth:
How could there be a koala in this backwater hellhole?!

Jiang Qili’s true form was a koala.
He didn’t know who his parents were or where he came from. He only knew he needed a eucalyptus tree of his own to live in, one that could provide him with the energy to keep living.
There were nearly a thousand species of eucalyptus in the world, but only a handful were edible for koalas. In this little village, he could find neither edible eucalyptus nor any eucalyptus beastfolk.
At the time, low-energy koala Jiang Qili was living in Jiang Zhijian’s huge villa in the capital. Hugging a cushion, he tried to work through the logic above and concluded that he was very lucky to have found Jiang Zhijian, this blue gum tree.
So Jiang Qili slowly set down the cushion, slowly kissed Jiang Zhijian, who was cracking walnuts for him, and slowly said, “Thank you. You’re a really good tree.”
Jiang Zhijian: “What makes me good?”
Jiang Qili strained his barely evolved brain for a long time. “You... you let me climb your tree.”
Jiang Zhijian put down the walnut kernels in his hand and sighed. “These walnuts aren’t the right kind. I’ll buy you another variety.” He’d eaten so many, yet hadn’t gained even a little koala brain.
Jiang Qili didn’t understand at all. “I... I think they’re fine.” They still weren’t as tasty as eucalyptus leaves.
Jiang Zhijian smiled and picked up his koala, murmuring in his ear, “Silly Qili, I meant you up in the tree.”
