The Bright Moon Is Beyond Reach

"I thought the closest I'd ever get to him was having him within sight whenever I turned around during our three years of high school. Then, years later, he was asleep beside me on my pillow."

Before the start of her second year of high school, Chi Shuyue confessed to her crush and was rejected. She promptly blocked and deleted him, thinking they would be strangers from then on. But when the classes were reshuffled the next semester, her crush was still in her class.

On registration day, her crush was taking attendance as class monitor, while Chi Shuyue hid in a corner, practically growing mushrooms.

Only after the crowd had dispersed did Chi Shuyue come to her senses and realize her crush was standing in front of her, watching her quietly.

Her brain short-circuited, and she blurted out, "Hi, happy first day of school..."

Shen Suilang thought she was so strange. When she confessed, she seemed completely devoted to him, but afterward she avoided him at every turn.

At the start of the school year, they were both chosen to be flag bearers. Chi Shuyue bailed at the last minute. He saw her crying her eyes out in a hospital corridor, clinging to someone's waist, the hand holding the fruit basket trembling slightly.

Later, they were assigned to perform together. During rehearsals, she chatted and laughed with another boy while treating him coldly. When they stood together, the distance between them might as well have been a galaxy.

Then he had to withdraw from a competition for personal reasons, and she took his place. When she came back, she tossed the materials onto his desk and snapped, "Shen Suilang, you really are something!"

His friend teased him, "Does Chi Shuyue hate you so much because you took first place from her?"

Shen Suilang paused. Hate him? From where he stood, she clearly liked him a lot.

Gentle, flirtatious girl x popular campus heartthrob, a crush comes true, and a push-and-pull romance.
