The night before starting work at the police department, Sha Tang had an absurd dream.
In the dream, she stood in front of a door wearing a full hazmat suit. In her left hand were two bottles of industrial-strength cleaner, and in her right was a bucket full of cleaning supplies: gloves, a mop, and scouring pads.
She opened the door, and the blood-soaked scene before her made her scalp crawl.
The next second, several lines of text appeared before her eyes:
[Crime Scene Cleaner Simulator loaded successfully]
[You are a cleaner tasked with removing every possible trace left at a crime scene]
[Choose your tools: mop / sponge / pressure washer...]
Sha Tang: ???
She was about to become a police officer. How had she somehow unlocked a cleaner side quest?
With no other choice, she gritted her teeth and got to work. She painstakingly cleaned all night, finally completing the mission and escaping the bizarre dream.
At dawn the next day, Sha Tang arrived at the police department on time, dark circles under her eyes. But on her very first day as an intern, she stumbled into a particularly brutal murder case.
The crime scene was a horrifying mess. When the veteran officer assigned to train her saw the new intern standing rigidly and silently in the doorway, he assumed she was terrified by her first encounter with a murder scene. He gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. "Anyone would be scared the first time they see something like this. You'll get used to it."
Sha Tang managed a bitter smile. No, this wasn't her first time seeing a scene like this.
The layout, the furnishings, even the distribution of bloodstains were exactly the same as the crime scene she'd spent all night cleaning in her dream!

From that day on, the whole police department gradually realized that their new intern was a little different.
At chaotic scenes where everyone else was at a loss, Sha Tang could always pinpoint overlooked corners and find crucial clues hidden in the cracks.
Faint traces of blood in the floorboards, an inconspicuous strand of hair in a corner, half a fingerprint left on a mirror...
With her on the scene, every investigation went remarkably smoothly, as if aided by divine intervention.
But Sha Tang knew perfectly well that every newly committed murder would appear in her dreams before the night was over.
She had to search the entire scene, find and thoroughly clean away every hidden trace of the crime, before she could end the dream and see the dawn.
For everyone else, arriving at a crime scene meant their first foray into a dense fog. She had already investigated every inch of its dark corners in her dreams.
Reader's guide:
1. A satisfying power fantasy. All the logic and worldbuilding serve the story.
2. Set around the turn of the millennium in a fictional setting. Please don't compare it to reality.
3. There is a male lead, and he is not just window dressing.
4. The first draft of this blurb was written on May 16, 2026.
