Forced to Marry a Tomb Keeper and Become His Husband (Farming)

Xu Qingye served the Ji family as a child groom for ten years. From a young age, he devoted himself to looking after his fiance, hoping that one day the other man would treat him a little better. But after enjoying all the benefits, his fiance turned on him as soon as he passed the county-level scholar examination. He looked down on Xu Qingye, his child groom, and feared Xu Qingye would ruin his chances of a good marriage, so he sold him to a mountain tomb keeper for ten taels of silver. People at the foot of the mountain said that the tomb keepers lived alongside ghosts, all with blue-green faces and fangs, and survived by eating people. Xu Qingye thought he was being sent there as food, too. That was until the man who bought him took his hand in a warm, strong grip and led him into the house, then gave him a bowl of hot noodles bigger than his face. "Eat. There's more if you want it." After eating until he was full for the first time in his life, Xu Qingye felt that the fierce-looking man before him didn't seem quite so frightening after all. The mountains were remote, and the man went out patrolling them each day. Xu Qingye took charge of the household, preparing three meals a day and handling all the seasonal needs. Their quiet life seemed sweet as honey. Lin Guanhe was old enough to marry, but the other young people among the tomb keepers were either already married or men. Before long, Lin Guanhe had become a bachelor well past his prime. His parents had no choice but to suggest finding him a husband from beyond the mountains. Lin Guanhe agreed. When the young man first arrived, he was thin and timid. Apart from his big eyes, there wasn't much to him at all. Lin Guanhe worried that even a gust of wind might blow him away. So he went to great lengths to get him fish and meat, making sure he ate well and built up his strength. The young man returned his kindness by cooking for him every day and waiting by the door for him to come home. Lin Guanhe would give him a handful of mountain berries he'd brought back, and their simple days went on like that for a long time. Xu Qingye had never once been allowed to make his own choices. He thought he would be unlucky all his life, right up until the day he died. But then someone took his hand and kept saying, "We'll do whatever my husband says." The man was wonderful in every way, and nearly spoiled Xu Qingye rotten. But ever since they consummated their marriage, he wanted to cling to his husband every day. At night, Lin Guanhe would grip Xu Qingye's slender waist and ask, "Qingye, will you give me a child?" The sweet, gentle young man was easy to persuade. He softly agreed, "I'll have one."
