At the dawn of the century ruled by vampires, the progenitors of the Florals were born.
Irises, roses, lilies of the valley, water lilies, moss...
Humans who had been modified and selectively bred were born as vessels of blood and beauty, becoming a people apart from ordinary humanity.
The Florals were expected to behave and serve as greenhouse ornaments for the amusement of the nobility. Vampires looked down on them, while humans hated them.
Yu Fuxing, the rarest of black irises, attended high-society banquets, broke the convention that humans from Luojing could not enter the night division of Celes Academy, and was privately kept by Lan Weiyang, a prince of the Serpent Faction.
Then one day, he personally killed a dignitary and was exiled to a forbidden hunting zone from which no one had ever returned.
Later, Yu Fuxing not only made it back to Luojing alive, but also stirred up a storm powerful enough to overturn the old order.
All of Luojing waited to see how the young prince, so exalted in status, would deal with this sacred flower who had dared defy him.
In the filthy corners of the secretive, mist-shrouded underground district, a serpent's fangs sank into Yu Fuxing's snow-white neck.

During their days at Celes Academy, Lan Weiyang watched Yu Fuxing be despised for his low birth, coveted for his beauty, and feared for his defiance. His friend cherished him in the palm of his hand, afraid to break even a single hair.
Lan Weiyang was deeply displeased.
At first, he thought it was because he couldn't stand Yu Fuxing. Later, he realized he couldn't stand seeing Yu Fuxing touched by anyone else.
So without hesitation, Lan Weiyang took back the Yu Fuxing who had always belonged to him.
As it happened, that aloof and precious black iris, too noble to profane, had always dropped its petals only into his palm.

2. Vampires are assigned animal lineages, while Florals are assigned flower lineages. These are original worldbuilding details.
3. Writing this for myself, making it up as I go O~O
