Two deranged leads / mutual pathological redemption / fictional setting / Gothic dark aesthetic / tragic ending
A fetishist, cold-hearted priest x a beautiful, tragic countess skilled in two professions
"If the gods won't save you, then let me redeem your soul and willingly descend into hell in your place."
Anwen was once a pampered countess, high above everyone else. Now she was a madwoman, covered in scars and barely surviving among the ruins of a prisoner-of-war camp.
She thought her past had long since been buried in the mud, until she met a priest named Muxia in a web of fabricated lies.
Muxia had no past, only a cold, black iron prosthetic limb.
Those hands could stitch the cracks in a soul, and claim even the hardest bones and blood.
The first time they met, Muxia looked at her as if she were a work of art waiting to be appraised.
"I think I've found the answer I've spent my whole life searching for."
Later, to keep Muxia by her side, Anwen decisively severed her ties to the lover she'd once had in the basement.
Smeared with some unknown scarlet substance, she climbed to Muxia's side and reverently offered her a bloodstained blade.
"Muxia, I can't lose you."
The cold monster who never showed emotion and treated human lives as weeds felt her heart beat for the first time.
It turned out Muxia wasn't a walking corpse. At least in that moment, she had flesh and warmth.
With her mangled fingers, Muxia clumsily yet solemnly stitched the wounds over Anwen's heart.
"I love your broken body and your past full of lies."
