The Treasure of This Life

The first book in the Newbie Village series. The writing is exaggerated, and the content may not be very good. The plot is neither real nor fake!

I’ll occasionally revise the story while it’s updating, so please bear with me.

The narration doesn’t always center on the main characters. There may occasionally be side couples and scenes from supporting characters’ or passersby’s perspectives. This is because I’m padding the word count and getting stuck.

On the first day of the second year of high school, when students were divided into science and humanities tracks, Ye Cichen was assigned to Science Class 8. At the same time, Chi Sheng, the top student in the grade, was assigned to their class too.

When Ye Cichen arrived in Science Class 8, only two seats were left. Without hesitation, he took the one farther inside… A few minutes later, he had a new deskmate: Chi Sheng.

When Chi Sheng sat down beside him, Ye Cichen sat perfectly still and quietly stayed by his side. He thought he was saved when the homeroom teacher arrived. As soon as she came in, she said, “Everyone, go stand in the hallway. I’m rearranging the seats.”

Not long after, Chi Sheng was Ye Cichen’s deskmate again! The homeroom teacher explained:

“Classmates should help each other. Chi Sheng, you need to help Ye Cichen…”

On the bus ride to Q City for military training, Ye Cichen was sitting in the back row. At something Chi Sheng said, he turned his head and accidentally brushed his lips against Chi Sheng’s cheek. The Class 8 students around them immediately started shipping the school bully and the top student. They’d even come up with a couple name: Cisheng.

The sports meet fell on a Tuesday. During evening study hall on Sunday, Ye Cichen went to find Zhou Kaiye and discovered him kissing a guy he knew too: Fu Zixin. The three of them said nothing on the way back that night. But the next morning, Fu Zixin left ahead of them, while Zhou Kaiye waited for Ye Cichen so they could walk together. Zhou Kaiye confessed that he and Fu Zixin were dating. He’d liked Fu Zixin since the first time he saw him, though it had taken him a while to realize it. As it happened, Fu Zixin liked him too, so they got together.

Ye Cichen didn’t say anything. When they were almost at the school gate, he finally said something. He wasn’t sure if Chi Sheng liked him, but he didn’t dare say it out loud, and he spent the whole day troubled by it.

On the day of the sports meet, he never expected Chi Sheng to say those words to him:

Chi Sheng: “You are the treasure of my life.”

Ye Cichen: “I hope you’ll be the only one who owns my treasure.”

Content warnings:

1. Some scenes are based on real events, while others are fictional.

2. The bottom has had a special kind of hypoglycemia since childhood. It’s not hereditary.

3. Neither partner is perfect. They both have many flaws, and they heal each other.

4. This story doesn’t quite match reality. Please understand, and don’t ask things like “Would this happen in real life?” or “Does this happen during military training?”

5. Don’t post unrelated comments about other authors’ works here or on their stories.

6. The side couple, Kaiye and Zixin, will appear in the extras, not the bonus chapters.
