Yanshu was born frail and sickly, yet he loved biology and geography!
"When will I finally be able to roam the mountains and rivers freely and see the splendid landscapes of this world?" Yanshu cried to the heavens.
There was little in his life to complain about, except that this one wish never came true.
Perhaps the heavens finally took pity on him. The moment Yanshu opened his eyes, he found himself in another world: the cultivation world, a wondrous place.
After he transmigrated, Yanshu used his absurdly good luck to travel all over the cultivation world.
All he had to do was breathe, and spiritual energy would flow into his body and circulate on its own. As it turned out, he had a Chaos Physique.
All he had to do was take a stroll through the mountains, and all kinds of rare flowers and herbs were there for the taking.
All he had to do was play in the water, and he discovered the Zhaoling Pearl, one of the cultivation world's Six Divine Pearls.
All he had to do was admire the scenery, and he could inherit the ruins of an ancient master, something others might spend their whole lives trying to obtain.
So Yanshu took up the hobby of sightseeing in the cultivation world, with the luck of a favored son of heaven.
Oh, and he got bound to a System that could take pictures for him. How nice!
Since he wasn't cultivating, mountain paths were bound to be dangerous. Just as Yanshu was worrying about that, a young man with a grimy face, wild hair, and a thoroughly wretched appearance volunteered to be his bodyguard.
Yanshu: ...Sure.
The young man was overjoyed and charged straight toward Yanshu, only to face-plant and get a mouthful of dirt.
Yanshu: Yikes.
What an unlucky kid.
That young man was Qi Sui. His mother died giving birth to him, and his father, overcome with grief, took his own life. His grandmother, unable to bear that her son and daughter-in-law were gone, died in bitter sorrow. His grandfather couldn't take the blow either and went mad while cultivating. The once-prosperous Qi family fell into decline overnight. His collateral relatives seized the ancestral home and family property, then drove the young young master Qi out of the family. Fortunately, a loyal servant, remembering the kindness of Qi Sui's parents, continued to raise him. Then, when Qi Sui was five, his grandfather's enemies came after him, and the servant died protecting him.
Once he was all alone, Qi Sui began his diligent, unlucky life as a sword cultivator.
All he had to do was breathe, and a bug would crawl up his nose.
All he had to do was walk, and all kinds of dangers awaited him: objects would fall from above onto him, or solid ground would suddenly cave in and form a huge pit.
All he had to do was drink water, and he would choke. He had even nearly choked to death.
All he had to do was cultivate, but the spiritual energy outside seemed blind, circling around his dantian and refusing to enter his body. When a few wisps finally managed to get inside, he suffered as though pierced by ten thousand arrows.
Oh, and he had a broken sword. As for why it was broken... Yikes.
It was because any sword manual that fell into his hands would make the sword ring incessantly until it broke, and it never took more than a moment.
Thanks to his extreme bad luck, even after putting in ten or a hundred times more effort than anyone else, he could barely keep up.
Qi Sui: Damn... Is the Heavenly Dao sick in the head?
Suddenly, the clear sky, which had been cloudless for miles, turned dark with thunderclouds and rain. Dozens of lightning bolts came crashing down on Qi Sui, who was meditating beneath a tree. They weren't tribulation lightning, so instead of tempering his body, they wiped out all the spiritual energy he'd just gathered.
Qi Sui: I was wrong...
Later, while fleeing from pursuers, he happened to meet someone who was very rich. If he followed him, he would never have to worry about food or clothes!
But only after becoming his bodyguard did he realize that this person wasn't rich. He was lucky! Incredibly lucky!
Why could one person's tribulation be so small, no bigger than the tip of a needle?
Why could someone do absolutely nothing and still advance in their cultivation while asleep?
Why could someone just stroll around and stumble upon a spiritual vein?
Why?!
Qi Sui's eyes reddened, his breathing quickened, and his heart began to race.
Yanshu is the bottom, and Qi Sui is the top.
