[A bug-exploiting addict heroine x an untamable, wild hero]
The day overtime sent Xun Shian stumbling into a rules-based horror scenario, she happened to be carrying a brand-new toilet plunger she'd just bought.
Everyone else: "Aaaaaaah! Help, there's a ghost!"
She was having a grand time jabbing monsters with the rubber plunger when it suddenly spoke:
"How dare such trifles behave so arrogantly before this venerable one?"
Xun Shian looked down. The rubber plunger was glowing, in a thoroughly sinister way.
"Who are you?"
"I am the Supreme One of antiquity, sealed here for three thousand years. Mere mortal, tremble! Kneel! Fear me! If you agree to enter into a contract with this venerable one, "
"What kind of contract?"
"A contract! I shall grant you unmatched power, and you will help me, "
"No deal," Xun Shian said. "But that doesn't stop me from continuing to use you."
The plunger: "..."
"You're sealed inside a plunger. Can you even stop me from using you?"
The plunger fell silent for a moment, then spoke in a strangely subtle tone. "...You really know how to exploit bugs."
Xun Shian: "Thanks. Overtime taught me."
Later, she discovered that this place was full of bugs.
The rules said not to look back after midnight. She walked backward.
The rules said your reflection had to match your movements. She made faces at the mirror.
The rules said you couldn't sign a contract. She just sucked the power out of the rubber plunger and used it.
A red-clad schoolgirl's resentment was overflowing. One jab from the plunger.
The plunger trembled violently in her hand. "She hasn't brushed her teeth in three hundred years!"
A headless factory manager chased them with a pipe wrench. Another jab from the plunger.
The plunger gagged. "This venerable one hates the smell of motor oil!"
One person and one plunger: wherever they went, the rules fell apart.
Until the instance's enforcer appeared.
The man leaned at the end of the gray fog, his uniform collar undone, danger roiling in his eyes. He didn't look like a proper enforcer at all.
He raised his eyelids slightly, his usual arrogance on display. "This weapon has the aura of an evil god. It's dangerous. Get rid of it."
The plunger bristled. "Stay away from this venerable one. This venerable one absolutely hates your smell!"
Xun Shian pressed down on the plunger. "Don't get worked up. You're going to chip your paint again."
The plunger: "..."
The plunger: "Did you hear him say this venerable one was dangerous?"
Xun Shian: "I heard."
The plunger: "And then?"
Xun Shian: "And then, I'm used to you. I'm not switching."
The plunger fell silent for a moment. Its red light flashed, and its tone suddenly turned unbearably smug. "Hey, Zhong, did you hear that? She's used to me, so she won't switch. Heh heh."
The man said nothing.
His tall shadow fell over them, bringing an oppressive force that allowed no retreat.
He slowly drew closer, like a beast that had been lying in wait and had finally grown tired of hiding beneath the skin of 'order.'
"Not switching?" He looked down at her. "I sealed it. You don't get to say no."
Xun Shian looked at him suspiciously. "Really?"
The air went still for a moment.
Xun Shian looked at him, then at the plunger in her hand.
"Perfect, then." She held the plunger out to him. "Since you sealed it, you should know how to fix it, right? It keeps saying its paint is chipping."
The plunger: "This venerable one's paint isn't chipping!!"
The man stared at the rubber plunger thrust right in front of him. A vein at his temple twitched ever so slightly.
Then he suddenly smiled, relaxed and unruly.
"You want me to fix a toilet plunger?"
Xun Shian: "What else? You're the manufacturer. I'm coming to you for after-sales service."
Reading guide:
1. One-on-one romance, both characters are sexually inexperienced, happy ending. The romance is between the heroine and hero. The plunger is a 'high-risk' mascot.
2. Lots of personal headcanons. Please don't overanalyze.
3. A fake forced-marriage plot that's really a story about the hero constantly losing his cool.
4. Original blurb saved on August 6, 2026. I'll polish it later, but the central premise won't change.
Theme: Every profession has its own champions.
