Xi Zhilan had always excelled from a young age. After graduating, he joined a publicly traded conglomerate, with an unlimited future ahead of him.

He also had an alpha boyfriend of five years, an ambitious and capable man. They were deeply in love and planned to marry soon.

But at some point, his boyfriend's career began to falter, and he was demoted again and again, while Xi Zhilan kept getting promoted. Their once-happy life changed beyond recognition.

His boyfriend's unstable side came out. His childish attitude gave Xi Zhilan a headache for a while.

After they had a rare, serious fight, Xi Zhilan happened to receive a friend request from his boss.

"Take a look at your so-called lover. It's normal for a young man to have trouble handling things, but picking fights with his omega at the first setback is just pathetic... Mr. Xi, are you sure he's the one?"

The man sat across from him. His pheromones were cool and commanding, yet comforting, and he seemed to handle everything with ease.

"Why not consider me instead?" the man said. "I'm better than your alpha. You should know that."

He spoke so generously.

Xi Zhilan gave no answer that day. The next day, he received notice that he'd been demoted and had his salary cut. Even his supervisor seemed at a loss for words.

No one can remain above it all when their livelihood is at stake, Xi Zhilan admitted frankly.

So he chose to marry Ji Yinghe.
