Reborn: Conquering Entertainment by Filming Short Dramas

Reborn in 2014, Lu Yuan takes over his father's media company, which is on the brink of collapse.

While industry giants are still fighting over television rights, he stakes his entire fortune on the uncharted territory of vertical short dramas.

From being mocked across the internet to setting industry standards, from renting other people's platforms to acquiring the source of the IP himself. He uses short dramas to crack open the empire, rewrites production rules with a producer-led system, and uses an industry fund to nurture the future of the entire sector.

In the business world, he and the rising star of Jiepai Rhythm sound each other out, going from a life-or-death struggle to boarding the same ship. In the industry, he trades blows from afar with a traditional media mogul, going from suppression and encirclement to mutual respect.

Years later, when people review each of Lu Yuan's business moves, they realize that from the very first day of his rebirth, he'd been playing a much bigger game. The exclusive deal with Daily News Flash locked up the gateways to Greenfruit Short Dramas and Douyin; he took a stake in Red Pomegranate Novels' IP library from the other side of the table; he even held the power to define the standards for overseas short dramas. Back then, everyone was asking the same question: When exactly did this guy set everything in motion?

On the day his empire was complete, Lu Yuan had a wall built outside the Industry Museum, engraved with all the glories of his entertainment empire.
