Gong Zhu sounds like "Princess," and she really is the Grand Princess who protects the country.
Her younger brother is called Gong Zi, and he really was once the Crown Prince.
But now, they're just two little kids in a village in the vast, sparsely populated Beidahuang: one seven years old, the other four.
Facing the black earth, backs to the sky, they spend every day eating coarse food that catches in their throats.
Gong Zhu takes one look at their situation and decides that won't do. They have to rebel!
After much deliberation, the siblings come up with a three-step plan.
Step one: use their father's connections in the army to secretly turn the troops against the authorities!
But their scumbag father sends back divorce papers, saying he's found a revolutionary partner and they should each go their own way from now on.
Step one: scrapped!
Step two: use Beidahuang's vast land and sparse population to stockpile grain, build high walls, and only declare themselves king when the time is right!
But just a few days later, their scumbag father is reassigned to his hometown in Beidahuang, and the army begins large-scale land reclamation.
Step two: scrapped again!
Step three: learn from foreign strengths to counter foreign threats. Study the knowledge of the era and climb to the top!
So the siblings carry their little schoolbags every day and get up early, early, early, before the sun...
There is a CP.
Theme: Strive through hardship and build the motherland!
