A cool, abstinent minister × a frail, solitary orphan girl
When Feng Wanghe was five, the village fortune-teller read her fortune and said that one day she would meet a great benefactor, and live a life of luxury and comfort, wanting for nothing.
Before her destined benefactor could arrive, a drought cut off Feng Wanghe's last hope of survival.
With no one to rely on and gravely ill, she found a place to be buried. But there, she saw Zhou Luqi, who was barely clinging to life.
She wagered her last spark of life, pouring the little water she had left into his mouth. Then she quietly lay down beside him, with the resolve of someone burning her boats:
"If you don't wake up, then we'll both die here. This place was once full of beautiful hills and clear waters. At least we'll have each other, so we won't be lonely."
Feng Wanghe won her wager.
The person she had saved was Zhou Luqi, a powerful man who held the reins of power and could turn the world upside down.
When his attendants found him, he was holding the unconscious Feng Wanghe in his arms, his fingers clutching her thin clothes. "We won't die. You and I are going to live."
Zhou Luqi took Feng Wanghe away and raised her in comfort and luxury. He couldn't explain what he felt for her. At first, he thought he was simply repaying her kindness. He wanted Feng Wanghe to have a good life.
Later, he realized it was a love that had sunk into his very bones. He loved Feng Wanghe and wanted her to stay by his side forever. He wanted to lock Wanghe away somewhere only he could see her, so that he would be the only person she could look at. But he knew that was wrong.
"Wanghe, I think I'm sick. I want so badly to lock you up and keep you by my side forever. Would you be willing?"
He lowered his head, unwilling to look into Feng Wanghe's eyes, afraid of seeing disappointment and fear in them.
The world was so vast. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to keep her.
Feng Wanghe touched his cold cheek and said softly, "Look at me. I'm willing."

Reading Guide:
1. Later on, there will be some yandere scenes, but don't worry. The male lead is a polite little yandere and won't hurt the female lead. These scenes bring them closer.
2. The plot follows the characters and won't deliberately focus on angst.
