Five-year age gap / A scrappy heroine who pretends to perform supernatural tricks vs. a ruthless, unhinged hero with heterochromia
When Lin Chu was born, the village temple keeper said she had the eyes of a Bodhisattva, able to see the aura of death on people's faces. But when she turned sixteen, Lin Chu went nearly blind in both eyes.
To make a living, she had no choice but to set up a fortune-telling stall outside the city's most popular temple. She only read fortunes, never love matches. Before long, Lin Chu had become the city's famous "Half-Immortal Lin," thanks to her reputation for having the "eyes of a Bodhisattva."
Less than three months after she set up her stall, a bizarre sight appeared inside the temple: a skeleton kowtowing to the Buddha. Soon, murders followed one after another, and rumors ran rampant. Lin Chu was unfortunately dragged into it all. To stay alive, she had no choice but to cling to the leg of Xie You, the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, known as the "Jade Rakshasa."
But neither of them expected the eerie events to keep coming. Paper figures knocked on windows in the dead of night, while bewitched puppets lured souls away and claimed lives. A mountain god's bridegroom brought the dead back to life, and a white fox spoke, granting people immortality.
Xie You
Minister of the Court of Judicial Review. He looked as gentle and refined as jade, yet his methods were savage and ruthless. Ordered to investigate the divine mystery at Qixia Temple, he took one look at the so-called "Half-Immortal Lin" and saw that she was a woman. No, she was a con artist.
Sensing the many mysteries surrounding Lin Chu, he thought for a moment, then made her an offer.
"Die or come with me. Choose one."
After weathering one crisis after another, even knowing that this con artist had been lying from the very beginning and had deliberately approached him, Xie You still wanted to hold tightly to her hand. After all, he had never been an honorable man himself.
