On the day of the tribe's coming-of-age ceremony, even the weakest among the children got a spirit beast of their own.
Yun Sang, born with innate spiritual energy, summoned a drab gray brush and a tattered old book.
They were completely useless. The brush was too bald to sweep dust, and the book was too torn to prop up a table.
Overnight, the favored child of heaven became an object of pity and ridicule.
The elders sighed regretfully. "What a shame. Yun Sang has such profound spiritual energy, but no contracted beast."
Yun Sang: ...
But I do have one! All the divine beasts in the Classic of Mountains and Seas can't wait to come out and stretch their legs~

For ten thousand years, the Savage Lands had been plagued by demonic energy. Demonic beasts and plants ran rampant, and humans were reduced to the bottom of the food chain, struggling to survive.
Then one day, a girl wielding a green bamboo brush wrote in bold, flowing strokes and summoned one awe-inspiring divine beast after another. Their power swallowed mountains and rivers, shaking heaven and earth.
From then on, the lands she protected were cleansed of demonic energy. Peace returned, and the people bowed before her.
Bonus Scene:
Taking divine beasts out to show off is impressive, but they're ridiculously hard to raise!
The adorable-looking E Shou is a compulsive liar. Taotie has eaten so much demonic energy that its belly is round, yet it still blinks and cries that it's hungry. Yingyu and Bifang, one spitting water and the other breathing fire, get into fierce fights whenever they meet...
And then there's the gray-feathered chicken that claims to be a phoenix. Picky, domineering, and petty, it's just like a great villain, cackling "Kekekeke" all day long.
Theme: Life has its sweet moments.
