The Matsuda Couple

A despicable criminal, the sorrowful sound of an explosion, and the death of a dear friend.

To uncover the truth behind it all, Matsuda meets the sole survivor of the bombing, a mysterious girl with purple hair.

"The patient is suffering from temporary aphasia, and she only just woke up. I don't recommend questioning her for too long," the doctor said.

"Then I'll go in!" Matsuda shoved the door open.

White filled Matsuda's vision, with a mysterious streak of purple standing out as the brightest thing in the room. The eyepatched girl turned to look at him.

Matsuda stood before her.

"I'm Matsuda, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Bomb Disposal Squad..."

That was the first time I met her. Back then, I didn't know my life was about to go off the rails like a derailed train.

Matsuda stood on the balcony, gazing at the sea of lights spread across the city. The cigarette between his lips had been burning for a long time.

"Snap."

Nagi walked in.

"Ah. Sorry. Did I bother you?" Matsuda said, stubbing out his cigarette and lowering his eyes.

A warm feeling filled his hand. Matsuda stared in surprise as she placed a hand warmer in it.

"Ha. I can't believe you're the one comforting me." Matsuda couldn't help laughing.

He naturally took Nagi's hand.

"Let's go inside. It's cold out here. You'll catch a cold."

Content warnings and a few things I want to say

1. I've already outlined the story through the extra chapters.

2. The main plot isn't just about romance.

3. The two of them will have a child, Ranpo from Bungo Stray Dogs. (I know it sounds absurd, but there are hints leading up to it. If it bothers you, don't read, and please don't comment about it below.)

4. I'm pairing them of my own accord: Jinpei x Chrome (Nagi).

5. I really write based on passion and interest, so I have a pretty bad habit of disappearing. I've also started several other stories on a whim, and I'll update them in rotation. Whichever one reaches the paywall first will be the one I focus on until it's finished. Thank you all for your support. Love you!

6. I'll finish the story after it goes behind the paywall. Bonus chapters are entirely random and written whenever I feel like it.

7. I've had this idea for a long time. With the recent events surrounding Detective Conan, I hesitated for a long time. I thought it over and realized I'd been working on this idea for ages, so I don't want to give it up lightly. I'll do my best to reduce references to the main Detective Conan plot. Aside from the characters, I basically won't write about Detective Conan plotlines. If that bothers you, read with caution. I won't write any more Detective Conan stories after this one.

8. At heart, this is just my own pairing and a rare, maybe even rather unconventional, ship I love.

This is a story I've written for myself. There are too few 96 pairings out there. I really think this girl is adorable. Amano-sensei's portrayal of women is truly one of a kind. I love Chrome so much: she's determined, brave, and adorable!
