Ji Shuyun should have died, but by a twist of fate, he survived. He always felt like he had forgotten something, though all he could vaguely remember was that he had a revenge mission to fulfill.
Before he could figure out his past, someone came looking for him.
They got straight to the point: "I'm your lover."
Ji Shuyun: ?
A closer look showed that this "ex" wore fine silks and jade, and had an imposing air. His face would be considered very handsome even among the great cultivation clans, and he was exactly Ji Shuyun's type. Then he looked at himself, dressed in plain mourning clothes. They didn't seem like they belonged together at all.
From the mouth of this "ex," he heard a story about an overlooked nobody in a powerful family, unloved by his father and mother, who finally gained a foothold after years of struggle, fell in love with him at first sight, and pledged themselves to each other... only for Ji Shuyun to abandon his old lover. Wait, was he the one who'd abandoned his husband?
His ex was still deeply attached to him and heartbroken. After finally reconciling, who could have expected Ji Shuyun to lose his memory instead?
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, especially when he's apparently left his entire past behind. They were so sweet together that he was about to plunge headfirst into a life of bliss... or so you'd think.
Instead, he turned around and staged a fine vanishing act.
When he found himself in a dead-end alley, the person behind him gripped his chin and told him to breathe. Only then did Ji Shuyun realize that this was another trap laid just for him.
He didn't dare turn around. "...What a coincidence."
"Is that so? What part was a coincidence?"
Note: The plot and romance are roughly 1:1.
Both are each other's first, both deeply devoted, no misunderstandings or stand-in tropes, and they only return each other's feelings.
This is entirely fictional. Please refer to the main text for the actual story.
